Under Age 21 Offenses where Special Penalties Apply in Georgia
In Georgia, if you are under the age 21 and convicted of a criminal offense, enhanced penalties may apply to your case.
There are enhanced penalties, including license suspension or revocation, for minors between the ages of 16 and 21 who are found guilty of a serious traffic offense, including speeding 24 mph per hour over the limit or more, or underage drinking. This is a very important issue, and many people are not aware that a conviction or guilty plea to these types of charges can have serious and long-lasting consequences.
Georgia has a zero tolerance policy for underage drunk driving, and convicted drivers with a blood alcohol content of .02 or higher will face a 12-month license suspension on the first offense.
Additionally, certain non driving offenses, such as underage drinking, and possession of marijuana, are driver's license suspension offenses. Attorney Miles W. Rich has successfully negotiated for many underage clients enabling them to keep their driving privileges
